Judging List Criteria
From 1st January 2026 the following club lists will be replaced by the Kennel Club's Judges Education Programme (JEP) Levels. Aspirant judges must set up a 'Judges Profile' on the Kennel Club website now in preparation for this change.
A1 LIST
The list indicates persons the Whippet Club of Scotland support to award Challenge Certificates (CCs) and have previously been passed by the Kennel Club to award CCs in the breed.
A2 LIST
This list indicates persons the Whippet Club of Scotland support to judge without CCs.
B LIST
This list indicates persons the Whippet Club of Scotland support to judge without CCs.
C LIST
This list indicates persons the Whippet Club of Scotland would support to judge Whippets, but who are not yet ready to judge a Breed Show. For aspirant judges who have judged the breed at Limited and Open Shows, but do not qualify as yet for the B List.
A1 LIST
The list indicates persons the Whippet Club of Scotland support to award Challenge Certificates (CCs) and have previously been passed by the Kennel Club to award CCs in the breed.
A2 LIST
This list indicates persons the Whippet Club of Scotland support to judge without CCs.
- Must have a minimum of seven years' experience in the breed.
- To have judged 2 club shows and/or four breed supported shows.
- To have judged a minimum of 100 classes of Whippets and a minimum of 250 dogs.
- To have bred /owned a minimum of 3 dogs when they obtained their first entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book, except in exceptional circumstances.
- To have attended a Breed Appreciation Day (BAD) and have passed the Multiple Choice Exam (MCE).
- To have attended Kennel Club Confirmation and Movement seminar run by a Kennel Club accredited trainer.
- To have attended a Kennel Club Requirements of a Dog Show Judge seminar and passed the exam.
- To have attended the Kennel Club Points of a Dog seminar and completed and passed the exam.
- To have completed 12 full days of stewarding.
- To have completed the Kennel Club Online Critique Writing seminar and quiz.
- To have completed the Kennel Club Online Stewarding seminar.
B LIST
This list indicates persons the Whippet Club of Scotland support to judge without CCs.
- To have a minimum of five years' experience in the breed.
- To have judged a minimum of 30 classes of Whippets and a minimum of 100 dogs.
- To have attended a Breed Appreciation Day (BAD) and have passed the Multiple Choice (MC) exam.
- To have attended the Kennel Club Confirmation and Movement seminar run by a Kennel Club accredited trainer.
- To have attended a Kennel Club Requirements of a Dog Show Judge seminar and passed the exam.
- To have attended the Kennel Club Points of a Dog Seminar and completed and passed the exam.
- To have completed 2 full days of stewarding.
- To have completed the Kennel Club Online Critique Writing seminar and quiz.
- To have completed the Kennel Club Online Stewarding seminar.
C LIST
This list indicates persons the Whippet Club of Scotland would support to judge Whippets, but who are not yet ready to judge a Breed Show. For aspirant judges who have judged the breed at Limited and Open Shows, but do not qualify as yet for the B List.
